Process Health is a complement to any current treatment plans you may follow. It is not a substitute for them, but rather a complementary approach that combines physical and mental process to re-establish the link connecting body, mind and the field around us, and from where we follow, as Arnold Mindell taught, an open-ended process.
We proceed by individual sessions of 30 or 60 minutes devoted to working on problems posed by physical symptoms or longer-term health issues for which you may already follow medical treatment and perhaps physical therapy.
What results can you expect? We at Dreaming Source do not offer miracle cures. Relating to symptoms typically calms the feeling of strangeness and rejection towards the symptom or condition, and establishes communication between the person and the symptom or condition so that dialogue and interaction are made possible.
We all learn from our society and culture to deal with physical symptoms and issues on a causal, physical basis. With Process Health, people are invited to include subjective and relational material as well. What we think and feel about something and the responses we give concerning those issues shows the limits that we impose on ourselves that now hinder us in specific ways. These manifest themselves as the symptom or condition, among other ways. With Process Health, those same issues now offer us a very focused view of what lies beyond a certain hindering limit. CG Jung taught in this instance “to follow the unconscious”; likewise, Arnold Mindell taught “to follow the process”, meaning to look closely at those very focused views beyond the “edge” as he would say.
Typical stages in Process Health include relating to the disturbance in various ways, working with forms of feedback, accepting your uniqueness and individuality from social influences, dealing with internal and external diversity, facing self-imposed limits and beliefs, and adapting to relationships both with others and those below conscious awareness.
Experiencing symptoms in Process Health thus becomes paradoxically, an experienced-based learning process of oneself as both a social being and an individual living in relationship with society and life, and of accessing the wisdom of anticipating and resolving conflicts for the benefit of all. Issues of dealing with change, evolution, aging and transcendence emerge as well.
